Dolgellau is a market town in Snowdonia, there are places to stay as well as pubs and restaurants. The town has the River Wnion flowing throw it and is about 1hr away from mount Snowdon.
Barmouth is a large town on the west coast of Wales. It is also positioned on the estuary of the River Mawddach which flows into Cardigan bay. The is a lot to do in Barmouth with pubs, restaurants and places to stay. It is a decent drive from mount Snowdon at around 1hour 10 mins but it is a good place if you are visiting wales for an extended time as a holiday and not just for mount Snowdon.
Bala is beautiful market town in Snowdonia it is further away than some of the others roughly 1 hour 10 mins drive but it is a good base if you are visiting the area on holiday for more than just climbing Snowdon.
Criccieth is situated in the beautiful cardigan bay and has a good range of accomodation, It is a good option at around 40 mins drive from mount Snowdon.
The village of Ffestiniog near Blaenau Ffestiniog is about 45 mins from mount Snowdon. There are places to stay an eat in the village.
Bangor is a city on the menai straight and offers many places to stay it is a bit further out than Caernarfon but is still an option. Most Snowdon routes can be driven to within 25-45 mins.
Porthmadog is a small coastal town 35 mins away from mount Snowdon. The a places to stay and eat as well as beautiful scenery and everything you will need.
Is about 1 hour drive from mount Snowdon. Llanfairfechan is known as a seaside resort and makes great base for you holiday in north Wales.
7. Blaenau Ffestiniog
Blaenau Ffestiniog is a busy town with everything you will need for a holiday. Blaenau Ffestiniog is approximately 50 min drive from mount Snowdon.
Llanberis is a start point for one of the routes up Snowdon so it is a very good place to stay if you are using Llanberis as a starting point.
Conwy is a walled market town on the north coast of Wales. The town is bordered by the River Conwy and is around 1hr 10 min drive from mount Snowdon. There is a lot to do in Conwy and due to its position just off the A55 it gives good access to the rest of North Wales and Snowdonia if you are staying for a holiday.
Llandudno is a popular holiday destination with a beach and many beautiful old buildings. The is a wealth of hotels hear that range from the very basic cheap hotels to luxury accomodation. Llandudno is around a 1hr 10 min drive from Snowdon but it is a good base if you are staying in the area for more than just the mountain walking.
If you prefer a larger town then Caernarfon is a good place to stay with a range of accommodation and places to eat. Caernarfon also has a beautful castle that is well worth a look. Most of the Snowdon routes are within 40 mins drive from Caernarfon.
Beddgelert is a beautiful old village which is steeped in history. It is smaller and not as busy as Betws-y-coed but it is closer Snowdon with most routes being accessible by car between 15-30 mins.
Beddgelert offers some very comfortable hotels and good quality restaurants.
Betws-y-coed is a popular village to stay before and after you climb Snowdon. It is just a 20-30 min drive from all of the Snowdon routes.
The village has many hotels and restaurants to choose from as well as hostels and bunkhouses.
